Sponsorship!

We are a Community Organisation and therefore entirely dependent on the generosity of strangers - and occasionally the not so strange - though of course this is the music industry!

If we charged fees we'd be a music college with all the hurdles and elitism that implies - so we're not and we won't be becoming one anytime soon - so we have to get the costs paid some other way - eeek! - help!

Since the government has higher priorities than ours, some may say understandably, we can only do the good we do with the good you do and the help you give.

If you like what we do and would like to donate a small sum there's a form link on the home page and with that at least we can get the government to give us back the tax you already paid on your contributions - well most of it! Actually, if you want to donate a medium - or even a large sum it's the same form!

If you've old kit you no longer need, like amps, speakers, cabs, cables or instruments then we'll find a use!

If you've got skills with web design, equipment repair, van driving, compering and sound engineering then get in touch. We may not need you right away, but we're building a bank of helpers and potential helpers.

Companies who we've asked to help us and who have been kind enough to do so include:

We've had management ideas and reports on a free trial basis from the BLC which have been very helpful. It's a great way to find out if they can help you too. If the links are still down on the site try calling 0113 275 4142.

Several of the good people who work at HBOS very generously give up their time to help out on our management committee and have been instrumental in a number of areas including preparation of accounts and our online shop.

About O2

O2 very kindly gave us a cheque to buy most of our touring Open Mic equipment! So much better to do business with than Telefonica!

Behringer who very kindly gave us not one but TWO of these ultra-reliable, great sounding and hugely powerful 8 x 10 punchy bass speakers. They've been in use at least 3 times a week for around a year now without the slightest sign of complaint or difficulty at the Primmy where we run a number of courses. They're the paper cone version - not the aluminium one and they're Mega.

Those great people at Marshall were only too happy to provide us with this robust and toneful amplifier, their MG100DFX. Compact enough to carry easily, powerful enough to get the job done and with just enough effects and options to use easily. Let's face it using many more effects live really needs a dedicated pedal, and this great little combo works perfectly for us and cuts right through the mix when needed!

Thomann are good to know. They gave us a better price than normal and one or two freebies to help the O2 money go that bit further. This is one of the parts of that order and is in itself a great value bundle. Then it all also comes from them with a 30 day trial - if returned 'as new' - AND 3 year's warranty! How can they do it? Great website guys! Great gear! Rock on!

You'll be able to sample all the lighter elements at our touring Open Mic nights around Yorkshire in the New Year and the 8 x 10's any live music night at the Primmy - That's the Primrose Public House on the corner of Buslingthorpe Lane and Meanwood Road. They're friends of ours, and hold their own Open Mic nights on most Thursdays.

Needs, wants and just outright fantasies:

Van

We're looking for a way to transport a few musos and equipment to our open mic nights and benefit gigs - so any van firms wanting to expose their vehicle ideas for a dream 3.5 ton tour bus to their target market please get in touch. Long-term, short term or just occasionally we're not choosy and you can plaster said vehicle with all your finance deals, your web address and/or hire rates. You do something for us and we'll get you as much exposure in your target marketplace as we're able to provide!

Musical Equipment

We're aiming to provide all the kit we can on our Open Mic nights so that all the bedroom muso's who've come out to see us will have no excuse not to get up and have a go when we put on an evening. Also we want to let bands just turn up in a car to our benefit gigs, just walk on stage and pick up still steaming instruments to make evenings as seamless as possible. If you manufacture or sell instruments and/or equipment and want it to get seen and tried-out properly and intensively in a live situation at gigging volumes and by a wide variety of potential customers of a wide range of ability this could really do you a lot of good - us too!

Space

We'd like somewhere we could use as fixed classrooms, recording studio and practice rooms. If you have somewhere suitable that you could lend us or rent to us at peppercorn rates - at least at outset - we may be able to generate enough income from it to raise the return to you over the medium term. So mothballed churches, old industrial buildings you're awaiting PP on in a year or so's time, property bank holdings you feel you'd like to get into community use to help your profile, or just a building you need to get lived in for a bit while the ideas come together - maybe we can do each other a few favours! Get in touch and we'll kick something into shape.
