The Business of Music

Aims:

To give students an insight into the music business, covering all basic aspects.

 

Course content:

1:Understand the history of the music business and how events have formed the business as it is today.

2:Understand how to get a record deal, how to get a publishing deal.

3:Understand the principles of live performance and touring, locally, nationally and internationally.

4:Understand promotion and marketing within the music business.

5:Understand the legal requirements relating to the music business

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND CONTENT

The students will be taught the major aspects of the music business, covering Musical History, Promotion and Marketing, Deal Making, Legal Responsibilities and Touring.

There will be an opportunity in lesson 5 for students to take part in a Question and Answer session on what they have learnt so far, together with any other relevant questions.
